Pastor Henry L. Walker was born to the parents of a Sharecropper in Bolivar County, and later moved to Cleveland, MS. Pastor Walker attended his early school years at Eastside High School, Cleveland, MS. After graduating from high school in the early 70's, he joined the army for three years and returned home later transferring to the U.S. Army Active Reserve. He furthered his education by attending Coahoma Junior College with an AA degree in General Business. He later graduated from Delta State University, Cleveland, MS. in 1979 receiving a degree in Business Administration. He also went on to do graduate studies in Management. He attended the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College in October 1994 through October 1997.

In 1980, Pastor Walker worked as a State Patrol Officer for Mississippi State Highway Patrol. Later Pastor Walker became active and involved in several social organizations such as Scout Masters for the Boy Scout, High School Booster Club, American Legion Post, VFW and active member of the United States Army Reserve traveling all over the world.  Pastor Walker spent nine-months in Operation Desert Storm/Iraq and received a Bronze Star and many other awards during his 24 years of military service. He retired from the military in 1994 and afterward worked for the Mississippi Department of Corrections as a Medical Supply Purchasing Agent in Parchman, MS. Also, he is currently a volunteer member of the American Red Cross Association.

Pastor Walker has served in many capacities of the church, to name a few, president of the "US" Men Club and the local Sunday School Superintendent, New Morning Star COGIC, Cleveland, MS. In 1998, he was appointed District #3 Sunday School Superintendent until December 2014, afterward; he was elevated as Northern Ecclesiastic Jurisdictional Sunday School Superintendent. Pastor Walker was also named one of COGIC's 100 Most Influential Pastors and was featured in the Whole Truth Church of God in Christ magazine.

On April 4, 2003, he was appointed and currently is the Pastor of the Greater New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C in Indianola, Mississippi by Bishop T.T. Scott. Pastor Walker is married to District Missionary Sarah H. Walker and they have two daughters and four grandchildren. Pastor walker believes if you serve God wholeheartly you will have good success. Pastor Walker has a strong heart for the Sunday School department and is working hard to put the Sunday School back into the local churches and the hearts and minds of God's people. He is a Joshua in the 21st Century.
